Comb Lice - Ways to Eliminate Lice Without Lotions

Using wet combing treatments to comb lice can work, without having to use anti-lice sprays or lotions, to eliminate them. A special detection comb might be needed. This can be purchased at your local pharmacy and can often be bought without a prescription. You can also buy head lice combs online, if you do a search to find them. Follow these steps on how to comb lice effectively using your lice comb:

Wash your hair, the way you normally would, using an ordinary shampoo.
Rinse out the shampoo. Then, apply a lot of ordinary conditioner.
To get rid of the tangles, comb your hair first with a regular comb.
As soon as the hair is untangled, start combing your hair with the detection comb.
Position the teeth of your detection comb so that they are touching the scalp at the roots of the hair.
Start to draw the detection comb through your hair tips.
Comb lice effectively by working each section of hair, so that all parts of your hair are combed.
You can use a magnifying glass to check the detection comb for lice after each stroke.
If there are any, be sure to rinse the comb, or wipe it with a tissue, before doing another stroke.
After combing your whole head, wash it out good with a conditioner.

Your first combing session is meant to remove all hatched head lice but may not remove the eggs. Lice that hatch from these eggs after your first session may still be present. That is why the procedure should be repeated.
The next wet combing session should be done to clear the newly hatched lice. Be sure to keep doing the wet combing session every 4 days. Do this until you have done 3 sessions, and until you cannot detect any more lice.
After you comb lice for 3 sessions and find no trace of lice or nits, this could mean that you are now free of lice.

People who live in the same house as you, and those you have had head-to-head contact with within the past 4 to 6 weeks, should be informed. It is essential to let them know now, so that they can check their hair for lice. People living in the same home as those with lice should all be treated at the same time. By doing so, you will be able to stop the lice from being passed from one person to another.
