I'm sure I don't need to tell you about psoriasis symptoms - the maddening itch, the silvery scales that crack and ooze and start the itching cycle all over again. Sure, you can hide it well enough in the winter - but as soon as summertime hits, you dread walking out of your house in long sleeves, because sweating just makes the itching that much worse. Symptons of Scalp Psoriasis - is there a cure?

-----------------ใส่ตรงนี้คับ----------------

www.dermasolve.com My story with scalp psoriasis started about 10 years ago. I was in high school, woke up that morning and decided to put on a black sweater. Through out the day I realized that my black sweater was no longer black. The sweater appeared to have a white layer of flakey snow on my shoulders. As you can imagine I was very upset and needed to find a remedy immediately. I first starting using dandruff shampoo, but all dandruff shampoos did not work. After suffering with embarrassment for a year with no cure, I did some research and here is what I found: At the onset, scalp psoriasis often is confused with seborrheic dermatitis (aka dandruff). "Dandruff tends to itch more, and it has a greasy-appearing yellow scale; in contrast, psoriasis-whether it's on your scalp or any other body part -- tends to have a thick, silvery scale." Dr. Strachen explains. "Scalp psoriasis may itch and become easily irritated during a flare, however, and it also may affect your hairline or creep down onto your forehead, nape of your neck, or ears." And this is exactly what was happening to me. The psoriasis started creeping down on my forehead, sides of my face and ears. I desperately needed to find a solution. I tried a number of different prescriptions from the dermatologist, nothing worked. Then I read in a magazine that the first step in treating scalp psoriasis effectively involves removing or lifting thick scales so topical medications can penetrate the problem plaques and ...

Scalp psoriasis is a quite common skin disorder that presents itself as spots or scabs on the scalp. Initially the spots may be very minute and are often confused with dandruff. Psoriasis is a genetic, non-contagious disease that affects the skin and joints. There are different types of this disease but the most common is plaque psoriasis. This type affects the skin by inflaming lesions and then covering with scaly white flakes.

This is caused by skin cells replicating at a heightened rate reproducing at eight times faster than the normal. Since cells develop in a matter of days instead of a month, build-up on the surface, and results in inflamed and scaled lesions. The flaky and shiny scales are the accumulated dead cells. Psoriasis is itchy and can be very painful at times.

According to the National Psoriasis Foundation, psoriasis affects approximately two to three percent of the world's population. The World Psoriasis Day Consortium reports ~125 million people are affected. Although any part of the body can be affected by this disease, it is most prevalent in the areas of the scalp, knees, elbows and torso. There is no known scientific cure for psoriasis, but there are skin care products and solutions available that provide temporary relief from the symptoms and healing of lesions.

Generally, those afflicted with Psoriasis have lesions on their body and scalp, though there are numerous reported cases of lesions being restricted to the scalp alone. Scalp psoriasis affects portions of the forehead, neck and behind the ears. Symptoms can be mild with fine dandruff-like flakes to extremely severe cases, with crusted flakes that often lead to hair loss.

Scalp psoriasis is often mistaken for severe dandruff. It is a source of insecurity and embarrassment due to its unsightly appearance and is often misunderstood by many thinking that the disease is contagious. Though there are reported instances where scalp psoriasis has disappeared or healed unassisted, that is rarely the case. There are treatments available that can vary depending on the severity of the disease. Treatments fall into three categories:

Topical Treatments

Medications that are applied directly to the skin. These include lotions, creams, ointments, shampoos or gels that reduce inflammation, normalize healthy skin production and slow skin cell reproduction. Topical treatments can give relief to mild and moderate cases, and in some cases, have been known to heal psoriasis altogether. Application of Emu Oil has shown to disrupt the out-of-control production of cells and to reduce inflammation. Emu oil is an anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and is a transdermal moisturizer. It is used to heal wounds, rashes, burns, and scars and stretch marks.

Ultraviolet (UV) light or phototherapy or In-Home Soft Light Laser Application

If patients do not react favorably to topical applications, UV and laser light therapy is an option. Light exposure to UV either through direct exposure to the sun or with UV combs, tends to slow cell production. Patients often are required to shave all or part of their hair to allow maximum exposure. An alternative is soft light laser treatment.

Systemic & Medication Treatments

Either taken internally or with an injection. These are used for severe cases of scalp psoriasis and hair loss is a common side effect. Having a systemic treatment will usually clear scalp psoriasis but these treatments should only be prescribed by a dermatologists.

Scalp psoriasis will often subside with nominal treatment - either topical applications, exposure to sunlight, or by supplementing treatments with hair care that focuses on deep cleaning, moisturizing and healing the scalp. It is unusual for patients to suffer long periods of extreme scalp psoriasis if they seek medical help immediately and follow the treatments prescribed.

Remedies For Scalp Psoriasis - Two Natural Ways to Ease Scalp Psoriasis Today!

What natural remedies for scalp psoriasis actually work?

About 50% of people who suffer from psoriasis also have psoriasis of the scalp. I was one of them, and for a while it was the bane of my life. If you suffer from scalp psoriasis too, then you know what the itchiness can be like, not to mention the embarrassing flakes!

If you are like me, then you have probably already tried the regular medication we are coerced into using. All those shampoos, lotions and foams, whilst may ease the problem somewhat, are not actually a real cure for the disease.

After spending a lot of money on these regular treatments, not to mention treatments for the psoriasis on my skin, I discovered using a couple of easy and natural solutions did just as good a job.

Two Natural Remedies For Scalp Psoriasis:-

The first remedy I found eased the symptoms of my scalp psoriasis very well, by reducing the itchiness and removing the flakes. Just warm up a little olive oil in a pan and massage it into the scalp. Leave it in for a few minutes, then wash as normal with a mild shampoo.

The second remedy I found actually helped my psoriasis in general, but was specially beneficial to the scalp. The discovery was Vitamin D supplements, which are inexpensive and widely available from drug stores. I didn't know I was Vitamin D deficient before I used them, but after trying them out for just a few weeks I noticed a marked improvement.

The real cause of psoriasis is still not known to modern science, which is why there is no cure. If the medical treatments you get from your doctor work, then that's great, but don't you think that natural remedies for scalp psoriasis would be a better option?

Remedies For Scalp Psoriasis

Scalp psoriasis is a condition which tends to be debilitating at times. This is because it is usually accompanied by itchiness of the scalp and those red painful scaly patches. Aside from the discomfort it brings, it can also be quite embarrassing because the thick plaques can sometimes be situated in a visible location such the neck or even the forehead. Fortunately, there are remedies for scalp psoriasis available.

If you are one of these people who are unfortunately suffering from this condition, you need not lose hope. You will be glad to know that there are a lot of remedies that you can do in order to treat the said condition. One popular remedy is by the use of shampoos which contain salicylic acid.

The salicylic acid content helps to soften the thick scaly plaques in order to make it easier to eradicate. Salicylic can be quite a harmful chemical to put on your hair, so follow application instructions carefully.

If you are a bit hesitant in using salicylic acid, you could also opt to use olive oil to soften the scales. All you have to do is heat the olive oil until it is warm to touch. Massage a generous amount onto your scalp and cover it with a towel. Leave the mixture on your scalp for a couple of minutes. Before rinsing, brush your hair with a soft bristled brush in order to remove the softened flaky scales.

Products containing tar have also been proven to be an effective treatment for psoriasis. Tar can be mixed in shampoo or even soap, so you can choose whichever you want to use. The problem with tar is that it tends to have an extremely unpleasant odor and it also stains. Usually they are massaged onto the scalp and it is left on the scalp for a couple of minutes before you can rinse it off.

Phototherapy is also one therapy that is beginning to be a popular choice especially among people who are suffering from severe cases of scalp psoriasis. This method makes use of high intensity amounts of UV light; the UV light is administered via a UV comb. In mild cases of this condition, you do not need to make use a UV light therapy. As a matter of fact, the UV rays of the sun is already enough to help treat it.

As you can see, there are a lot of treatment options when it comes to curing scalp psoriasis. Whichever remedy you choose to apply, be sure to take some action before the condition complicates.

Find the Right Psoriasis Shampoo

Psoriasis is a scalp condition that affects a great number of people. Adults are not the only ones affected by it, because the condition can occur in children and even infants. Scientists presume that most cases of psoriasis are caused by extreme stress, or certain medications. The condition, fortunately, can usually be treated with medications as well as the use of a good psoriasis shampoo.

Psoriasis complications can usually be treated with prescription medications or utilizing the sun's very own repairing capabilities. These work fast and effectively in healing the dry and possibly lesion-filled sections of the scalp. But using a shampoo is the best way to protect the scalp from more damage throughout the day or night.

If skin is cleaned, moisturized, and taken care of properly, psoriasis itself or its complications can be significantly lessened. But if that's not the case, an over the counter solution like a shampoo is usually good enough to provide ideal and necessary results. Although is cannot completely cure the condition of the scalp, a dependable psoriasis shampoo can take care of relieving the complications of the disease, such as dry, itchy, and wounding scalp and skin. Most shampoos for psoriasis contain coal tar or salicylic acid, which are effective in cleaning the scalp and then drying it out. Washing the hair with a shampoo for psoriasis can already result in immediate relief for the person's head and personality.

An advanced shampoo for psoriasis would contain other ingredients aside from coal tar or salicylic acid. Even over the counter brands nowadays contain ingredients like vitamins, minerals, ketoconazole, and even small steroids. These ingredients can help the scalp return to its natural and healthy state from before it got infected with the disease.

The shampoo for psoriasis works best if it is left on the scalp for 10-15 minutes before being rinsed off. These allow the scalp debris to be collected and washed away with the shampoo suds afterwards. If the psoriasis program is too severe, a second washing, sudsing, and rinsing might be too ordinary and redundant with the clips. Most psoriasis treatments will do wonderful things for the scalp, but will greatly affect the hair color of the user. The coal tar substance in the shampoo can cause a slight discoloration near the roots. It can even make hair feel dried out. the user should then consult his dermatologist, or use a heavy duty conditioner to counter this side effect.

A healthy scalp and beautiful hair are things which all people should be entitled to have. Get that shine-worthy crown of hair back with a good psoriasis shampoo. Be sure to scout all brands and compare prices and features to find the product which will be right for the job.
