Shampoo For Itchy Scalp

-----------------ใส่ตรงนี้คับ----------------

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you're one of millions who suffer from an itchy or dry scalp, there are shampoos that can help reduce the itching, flakes and inflammation while leaving your scalp and hair clean and refreshed.

Itchy scalp can be the result of several factors. Dryness, excessive oil, bacteria and fungus, or the onset of scalp diseases such as dermatitis or psoriasis. Most common symptoms are white flakes, chronic itching (and scratching), and temporary localized thinning.

With that said, there are two prominent treatments for itchy scalp.

One, if the dryness or itchiness is the result of excessive oil (sebum), using a shampoo that regulates the sebaceous glands helps control oil. Oil accumulates and attracts dirt and styling products (hairspray, styling gels, etc.) Trapped dirt and oil clog follicle pores and can cause inflammation - leading to irritation and flaking. These symptoms, though often confused with dandruff, are inherently benign and can be effectively treated with a clarifying shampoo or what that targets reduction of oil.

Two, if oil combines with yeast in the hair, bacteria and fungus can form. This is most common in dermatitis (seborrhea dermatitis) and, again, can be effectively treated with an anti-fungal shampoo or one specifically formulated for dermatitis.

The key objective of any shampoo for itchy scalp is tackling oil production. This can be accomplished by looking for one of three active ingredients.

Zinc PCA
Peppermint or Menthol
Emu Oil

Zinc PCA is used in many hair products to regulate and slow the production of sebum. Controlling sebum acts to ward off inflammation and flaking by deep cleaning and clarifying the scalp and hair. Effective at removing dirt and product build-up, Zinc PCA is a botanical complex that is gentle on the scalp and helping to heal while removing flakes.

Peppermint and menthol act in very much the same way as Zinc. Menthol is an extract of peppermint (and spearmint) and has the added benefit of increased healing of damaged skin and is aromatic to boot! Often used in shampoos to awaken the senses, there are many therapeutic qualities for reducing itchiness.

Emu oil has become one of the "miracle oils" for hair and skin care products alike. It penetrates deeply into the scalp and soothes and heals inflammation. It is a natural anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory and has superior moisturizing properties. it is very effective for treating fungus and bacteria and providing soothing relief to dry, itchy scalp.

Men's Hair Loss Facts - 10 Interesting Facts About Men's Hair Loss!

-----------------ใส่ตรงนี้คับ----------------

Image : http://www.flickr.com

I would like to share some pretty useful and interesting men's hair loss facts with you. I picked these ten facts up from various online and offline sources. These men's hair loss facts should not only help you gain a clear understanding of the condition, but may offer some hope that an effective treatment may exist for you.

I hope this helps!

10 Interesting Men's Hair Loss Facts:

Androgenic alopecia, better known as male pattern baldness, is the most common type of hair loss on the planet, and it affects nearly 50% of every man over the age of 50!

The primary cause of male pattern baldness is a build-up of male sex hormones known as androgens. The most loathsome of these is dihydrotestosterone, or DHT.

DHT adversely affects normal hair growth by clinging to your follicles and rendering them unable to absorb proper nutriment from the scalps blood supply. In essence, DHT chokes hair to death!

Initially the effects of DHT build-up will manifest themselves as thin patches on the crown and in the "widow's peak" areas of the head. The hair will usually be very fine and beginning to disappear.

If left untreated for a long period of time, androgenic alopecia will continue to starve your hair follicles until they are no longer thin... they're gone! This is how total baldness occurs.

If an individual happens to be in this late stage of alopecia, his treatment options are very limited. Plugs, transplants, hair pieces, hats, and good ole Bic razors are pretty much what he's limited to!

In the early to middle stages of alopecia, when the hair is thin but still visible, DHT blockers can be used to slow, stop, and in many cases even reverse hair loss.

The only FDA Approved hair loss treatments available for men with early to middle stages of alopecia are finasteride (Propecia) and minoxidil (Rogaine).

Minoxidil was originally designed as a blood pressure medication. One of its commonly occurring side effect was excessive hair growth! This stuff worked even before it was supposed to, and today yields a success rate of approximately 64% when used alone.

Finasteride boasts an even higher success rate... 83 percent. Unfortunately, this mens hair loss treatment option also comes with the risk of serious sexual side effects. A natural alternative to the drug is the extract of a North American palm plant known as saw palmetto.

In addition to these ten mens hair loss facts, you may like to know that minoxidil and finasteride (or saw palmetto) can be taken concurrently, and when they are, the success rate is through the roof.

Causes Of Sore Itchy Scalp

-----------------ใส่ตรงนี้คับ----------------

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There can be many causes of sore itchy scalp problems. In rare cases it can be put down to a lack of hygiene, though that is generally not the case for most people and it can in fact more likely be attributed to excessive washing or the use of harsh shampoos and conditioners that cause the scalp to dry out and leave the follicles open to infection (folliculitis). Many of today's shampoos and conditioners contain a number of toxic chemicals which dry out the skin, stripping it of its natural oils and thereby causing a sore, itchy scalp. Without these essential oils the skin is open to a number of infections and yeast organisms like Melassezia Globbosa (the fungus which causes dandruff) or Pitysporum Ovale - which result in dandruff and flaking of the scalp. An example of one of these toxic chemicals is Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLS) which is an aggressive cleaning and foaming agent commonly used as an engine degreaser. Although proven to strip oils from and prematurely age your skin, damage eye membranes, retard healing, inhibit hair follicle growth and more, it is added to 90% of shampoos on the market. Silicon is also often added to conditioners as an artificial shine enhancer.

Some other possible causes are:

A skin condition, such as acne, which can occur for a number of reasons - often hormonal, but also via infection, ingrown hairs and blocked pores, or incorrect diet.

A fungus like Ringworm (tinea capitis). This is a superficial fungal infection of the scalp and is caused by mould-like fungi called dermatophytes. It is more common in children and the symptoms include red, itchy patches on the scalp, which cause hair loss and leave bald areas. The skin might itch and be red and peel or be scaly, have swollen blisters or a rash (that can spread) and looks like black dots. The rash is highly contagious, and I would highly recommend seeing your doctor or dermatologist as soon as possible to get further advice and prevent it from spreading further.

A cyst, such as an epidermal or sebaceous cyst, a sac beneath the outer layer of the skin that is filled with a greasy white material. These cysts most often appear on the scalp, ears, face or back and are caused by plugged ducts at the site of a hair shaft.

An allergic skin reaction (contact dermatitis). This usually comes in two forms - Irritant Contact Dermatitis and Allergic Contact Dermatitis. The former is normally a reaction caused by the direct effect of an irritant substance on the skin, while the latter is a hypersensitivity reaction, acting through the body's immune system, due to a particular substance or group of related substances. This goes back to what I mentioned above about the harsh irritant chemicals that you find in many of today's shampoos and hair products.

Stress - brought on by exhaustion, work pressures, emotional tension. Stress can also cause acne to develop.

Viral infections, such as chickenpox and shingles

(Please note that every case is different and if you have an extreme case of scalp problems or are worried and uncertain about anything I would highly recommend you consult your doctor or dermatologist).

To soothe the itching on your scalp there are a few things you can do. Natural oils such as Lavender, German Chamomile, Eucalyptus, and Avocado Oil are excellent at relieving the itchiness. Simply mix them together and add water (4 parts water to 1 part oil), then apply locally to the affected areas on your scalp for relief. This mixture can also be added to your shampoo or conditioner to give your skin an extra boost (try to use a pH neutral shampoo with natural oils such as Tea Tree - this will stop your scalp from drying out further and will help to prevent any infection).

Neem oil is an excellent dandruff preventative and is also great for relieving psoriasis and eczema. As above, it can be added to your shampoo to soothe and aid your scalp problem.

(As with all oils, consult your doctor first if you are pregnant. It is also recommended you patch test all oils/formulas before application or addition to your shampoos).

Dandruff Remedy - Easy and Effective Herbal Treatments

-----------------ใส่ตรงนี้คับ----------------

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Dandruff, also called seborrheic dermatitis is an itchy, flaky and persistent skin disorder of the scalp, without redness. It results when the scalp sheds dead skin cells in large numbers. Dandruff appears as dry, white or greyish flakes usually on the top of the head.

It is normal to continuously shed some dead skin flakes, as the skin is constantly renewing itself. With dandruff, this whole process of skin renewal speeds up, so a greater number of dead cells get shed. In addition, the cells are shed in clumps, which are big enough to be seen with the naked eye as embarrassing flakes. The scalp may also feel slightly itchy.

Dandruff is a very common problem and 90% of the people around the world ail from it at some point in their lives. It can occur at any age, but is most likely in the early 20s. When it occurs in newborns and infants, dandruff is termed as cradle cap.

Although not dangerous, dandruff can be quite embarrassing. It causes a lack of confidence and self-esteem.

Possible causes of dandruff:

Internal causes -

o Hormonal imbalance because dandruff usually starts after puberty and is more common in men than women.

o For unknown reasons, people with some illnesses, such as Parkinson's disease, are more likely to have dandruff

o Anxiety

o Oily scalp

o Family history - hereditary

o Food allergies

o Excessive sweating

o Faulty eating habits. - fried foods, fats, sugar

External causes -

o Frequent use of strong hairsprays, gels, dyes.

o Inadequate cleansing/rinsing of scalp/ hair after shampooing

o Use of lotions that contain alcohol

Treatment of dandruff:

Dandruff is a natural process. Elimination takes time, but you can manage and control it. Treatment of dandruff is directed at fighting the skin inflammation. This is done either directly, by using cortisone-based creams and lotions (which reduce inflammation), or by reducing the yeast that builds up on scaly areas and adds to the problem.

# Keep the hair and scalp clean, to decrease the accumulation of dead cells. Wash frequently so that flakes do not build up.

# The hair should be brushed daily to improve the circulation and remove any flakiness.

# Massage the scalp daily using the fingertips and working systematically over the head. This stimulates the circulation, dislodges dirt and dandruff and helps in the hair growth.

# Avoid spicy and greasy food because it helps dandruff to increase and spread. Add more fresh and green vegetables and fruits to the diet. Have a balanced diet containing lots of vitamin A, B6, B12. Avoid intake of fried foods, sugar, chocolates and nuts.

# Strong tea and coffee, processed foods should be avoided for dandruff.

What shampoo to use to treat dandruff?

There is no official branded shampoo for dandruff. Doctors usually recommend Nizoral, a medicated shampoo available only in drug stores as an anti-dandruff shampoo. It is medically proven and the effect is long lasting.

You have to try and find out which one is successful at controlling your dandruff. Some commonly available anti-dandruff shampoos in the market are Head & Shoulders, Clinic, Pantene Pro-V etc. Use a mild shampoo.

Some myths about dandruff -

Moisturizing the hair helps control dandruff. Infact, moisturizing lotions don't do much more than smooth out scales and make patches look redder.

Switching brands of shampoo helps control shampoo. Shampoo doesn't cause dandruff.
Dandruff is due to dryness of the skin. Dandruff occurs in areas where the grease glands of the skin are most active, and the skin is not usually dry.

Changing hair care routine helps control dandruff. There is no "right" shampoo or conditioner. There isn't even a "correct" number of times to shampoo per week.

Dandruff is contagious. One cannot 'catch' dandruff from someone else, such as by using his brush or comb.

Natural home made remedies -

# Rub onion onto scalp. Onions are high in sulphur, which is essential for a healthy scalp.

# Avoid dyeing hair, unless an absolute must. We all have bacteria on our scalp, some of which are beneficial. This 'good' bacteria prevent dandruff yeast, and hair dyes reduce their numbers.

# Garlic whether eaten or applied externally is excellent for fighting dandruff.

# Apple cider vinegar (diluted with equal amount of water) when massaged onto scalp helps curb dandruff. It is a natural antiseptic.

# Lemon juice or sour curd when applied onto scalp is also useful.

# Fenugreek seeds - ground into a fine paste, applied onto scalp, and left for half an hour.

# Juice of bitter gourd when massaged with oil onto scalp relieves dandruff.

# Boil some neem leaves in 4 teacups of water. After cooling and filtering, use for washing hair.

Treatment for dandruff is not a one-time affair. Dandruff comes back, if regular care on a daily basis is not taken.

Consult a doctor if your scalp is red and itchy - or if the skin is flaky around the eyebrows, round the nose or behind the ears - because this suggests you might be having a more severe form of seborrhoeic dermatitis.

Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar & sage tea to get the hair you have to grow & thicken a bit. A strong infusion of sage tea is made adding a handful of fresh sage or about two fourth cup of dried herb to two cups of boiling water. Continue to boil for two minutes then remove from the stove. Icy this mixture & strain the herb out adding two cup of apple cider vinegar. Place the mixture in the refrigerator & rinse your hair with two cup. The sage tea gives you an added benefit as it will stop any gray hairs from growing.

Hair loss seems to be a gigantic problem in the population today & can affect male or female & young & elderly & is caused by a variety of reasons. Health concerns can cause hair to drop out. Medication being taken can also be the problem or it could be heredity. Remedy for hair loss is sometimes effective to prevent more hair from being lost & what you require to make them can be found about anywhere.

A popular herb to use to battle baldness is Saw Palmetto. This herb cleanses the follicles of hair & helps them to breathe & start to grow. Silica is proven to prevent baldness & stinging nettles is an herb that contains high quantities of this mineral. Saw Palmetto is found near vitamins at the store. It comes loose in some cases but if hard to find get capsules & pull them apart. In a bowl mix on tablespoon saw palmetto & two teaspoons of stinging nettle. In a saucepan bring two cups of water to boil & pour in the herbs. You can also place the herbs in cheesecloth & tie with a string or strain them after they have boiled for two minutes. Icy the mixture & use it as a rinse every day. You can also take saw palmetto capsules daily. Find Stinging nettle juice at the store & drink about two tablespoon mixed in a cup of water. A bi product of testosterone in men is DHT & causes male pattern baldness. These two herbs can rid the method of any DHT in it. An added benefit is that saw palmetto will prevent prostate issues as well.

Use rosemary oil like the Roman's did in order to stimulate the circulation & help oxygen intake in the follicles. Rosemary oil tends to be a tiny expensive so try to extend its use by combining about two drops with two tablespoon of olive oil & rub it vigorously in to the scalp. Leave it on the scalp for a few hours then rinse it out & do this several times per week. The scalp will be cleansed by the rosemary oil & all clogging residue will be banished. You will feel a tingling sensation but it should never burn your head.

Women also can have an issue with baldness & hormones are usually the problem. Take coconut oil & rub it in to the scalp on a daily basis. Coconut oil also conditions the hair & makes it fuller. Some commercial conditioners have coconut oil in them for this reason so make sure to use them regularly.

Bacteria & mites sometimes collect in the hair follicles causing loss of hair & Tea Tree Oil can kill that bacteria & mites. Add olive oil to this oil to make it last & cut down on the smell. The scent is very strong so it is a lovely idea to apply in the evening when you don't have to go anywhere & rinse it out before going to work or school in the morning.

Natural remedies don't work for all people & fighting baldness is no exceptions. There's times when your heredity will take over & nothing you do will help. Hopefully preventative remedies will permit you to keep most of your hair for years to come. They may even help to grow more.

The most important thing to keeping your hair full is to have lovely circulation in the scalp area. Give yourself a lovely head massage in the morning when you get up & in the evening when you go to bed. Lovely circulation will enable you to keep your hair.

If you're wondering how to get rid of boils, don't worry. There are a number of boil treatments available and they're very effective. The first step is to look at the abscess to determine if it is really a boil. A boil will usually have warmth and swelling and will probably be red with a yellow center.

If you do have a boil you can try some easy home remedies for boils. The first has been used by the Aztecs, Cherokee Indians, and Appalachians and involves cornmeal. Boil half a cup of water and add cornmeal to make a thick paste. Apply this to the boil and cover with a cloth. Repeat every hour or two until it begins to drain. Another remedy that's been used for generations is called cupping a boil. To try this, boil a cup or a jar in water and then use tongs to take the cup out of the pot. Let it cool enough that it won't burn you and place over the boil. As the cup cools, the suction will bring blood to the area. Then you simply need to blot the pus away and wash your skin.

There are also a number of home remedies for boils that involve simple ingredients from your refrigerator. Take a slice of bacon, roll it in salt and place between two pieces of cloth. Apply to the boil and repeat throughout the day. Although it can be messy, the fat and salt content will help bring it to a head. You can also try cutting a thick slice of onion and placing it on top of the boil. Wrap with a cloth and change every few hours. Onion has a natural antimicrobial quality and will help draw blood to the boil.

These home remedies have been used for generations and are a great, easy way to treat a boil without pain or money.

Comb Lice - Ways to Eliminate Lice Without Lotions

-----------------ใส่ตรงนี้คับ----------------

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Using wet combing treatments to comb lice can work, without having to use anti-lice sprays or lotions, to eliminate them. A special detection comb might be needed. This can be purchased at your local pharmacy and can often be bought without a prescription. You can also buy head lice combs online, if you do a search to find them. Follow these steps on how to comb lice effectively using your lice comb:

Wash your hair, the way you normally would, using an ordinary shampoo.
Rinse out the shampoo. Then, apply a lot of ordinary conditioner.
To get rid of the tangles, comb your hair first with a regular comb.
As soon as the hair is untangled, start combing your hair with the detection comb.
Position the teeth of your detection comb so that they are touching the scalp at the roots of the hair.
Start to draw the detection comb through your hair tips.
Comb lice effectively by working each section of hair, so that all parts of your hair are combed.
You can use a magnifying glass to check the detection comb for lice after each stroke.
If there are any, be sure to rinse the comb, or wipe it with a tissue, before doing another stroke.
After combing your whole head, wash it out good with a conditioner.

If you use a detection comb to remove lice properly, it might take you up to an hour to finish a wet combing session. After that, you will need to do the same procedure at least 4 times every four days. Remember, the number of sessions needed depends on when the last session was that you saw lice.

Your first combing session is meant to remove all hatched head lice but may not remove the eggs. Lice that hatch from these eggs after your first session may still be present. That is why the procedure should be repeated.
The next wet combing session should be done to clear the newly hatched lice. Be sure to keep doing the wet combing session every 4 days. Do this until you have done 3 sessions, and until you cannot detect any more lice.
After you comb lice for 3 sessions and find no trace of lice or nits, this could mean that you are now free of lice.

People who live in the same house as you, and those you have had head-to-head contact with within the past 4 to 6 weeks, should be informed. It is essential to let them know now, so that they can check their hair for lice. People living in the same home as those with lice should all be treated at the same time. By doing so, you will be able to stop the lice from being passed from one person to another.

If you think that this procedure to comb lice is not helping at all, you can try a hair care specialist for a treatment that might be more effective for you. The sooner you can comb lice and get rid of these pests, the sooner you can stop an infestation.

Scalp Flakes - Simple Remedies

-----------------ใส่ตรงนี้คับ----------------

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There are a few conditions which can lead to the formation of scalp flakes on our head. But, probably the most common condition which causes it is dandruff. Having an itchy and flaky scalp is a dead on sign of dandruff; and dandruff can be an embarrassing condition to have. This is the reason why a lot of people who are suffering with dandruff are constantly looking for effective ways of getting rid of it fast and effectively.

Though the use of anti-dandruff shampoo is a popular choice for treating scalp flakes, there are still a lot of simpler and cheaper remedies that can help solve the problem. One equally effective method is by the use of oils. Flakes on the scalp can sometimes be aggravated because of the dry conditions of our scalp. Thus, one way of getting rid of it is by providing it with moisture. There are a lot essential oils which also have other purposes aside from just providing moisture. One good example is the Tea Tree oil. This essential oil contains antiseptic properties, thus it can help to treat infections that may be causing flakes as well. All you have to do is massage a generous amount on your scalp and leave it on overnight before rinsing.

Apple cider vinegar is an ingredient you can easily find in the market, and can be an effective remedy for treating flakes on your scalp. Like the tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar can also be an antiseptic solution. They work by making the environment on your scalp "unpleasant" for fungi or yeast to grow on. You can mix this with other essential oils to also help provide moisture on the scalp. Like the tea tree oil, you just have to massage a generous amount of mixture on your scalp and rinse it after a few minutes.

Green tea is not only good for the body, but they have now found a way to make it useful for treating your scalp. They also work by preventing the growth of any yeast or fungi on our scalp. You just have to brew a couple of teaspoons of green tea and let it cool. Once they are cooled, massage it on your scalp and leave it on for at least 20 minutes.

When it all comes down to it, flakes on our scalp are oftentimes due to accumulation of dirt, sebum, and also dead skin cells. So aside from the remedies mentioned above, it is also important that we make it a practice to thoroughly clean our hair everyday. If you are exposed to polluted and greasy environments, then you may have to wash your hair more than once.

What natural remedies for scalp psoriasis actually work?

About 50% of people who suffer from psoriasis also have psoriasis of the scalp. I was one of them, and for a while it was the bane of my life. If you suffer from scalp psoriasis too, then you know what the itchiness can be like, not to mention the embarrassing flakes!

If you are like me, then you have probably already tried the regular medication we are coerced into using. All those shampoos, lotions and foams, whilst may ease the problem somewhat, are not actually a real cure for the disease.

After spending a lot of money on these regular treatments, not to mention treatments for the psoriasis on my skin, I discovered using a couple of easy and natural solutions did just as good a job.

Two Natural Remedies For Scalp Psoriasis:-

The first remedy I found eased the symptoms of my scalp psoriasis very well, by reducing the itchiness and removing the flakes. Just warm up a little olive oil in a pan and massage it into the scalp. Leave it in for a few minutes, then wash as normal with a mild shampoo.

The second remedy I found actually helped my psoriasis in general, but was specially beneficial to the scalp. The discovery was Vitamin D supplements, which are inexpensive and widely available from drug stores. I didn't know I was Vitamin D deficient before I used them, but after trying them out for just a few weeks I noticed a marked improvement.

The real cause of psoriasis is still not known to modern science, which is why there is no cure. If the medical treatments you get from your doctor work, then that's great, but don't you think that natural remedies for scalp psoriasis would be a better option?

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) - An Overview

-----------------ใส่ตรงนี้คับ----------------

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a form of hair transplantation, in which individual follicular units are taken directly from the donor area. A very small circular incision in the skin is made around the follicular unit, which is then removed from the scalp. This avoids the necessity of a linear incision, which takes place in more traditional forms of hair transplantation such as Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT), which uses a strip harvesting method. FUE was developed in order to avoid the linear scar that results from hair transplantation using the strip harvesting method. FUE is thought to be most suitable for patients who like their hair worn very short or, ironically, for those who like to shave their heads or have a fashionable buzz cut! It does make you wonder why such individuals require hair transplantation in the first place!

Implementing FUE hair transplantation is a highly skilled procedure. Prior to the operation, the surgeon clips a large section of the hair in the donor area. It is possible to perform the procedure in someone with long hair, with the sides shaved in strips so that it can be covered by the surrounding hair, but this causes a visibility problem, because the open area is not removed. As the surface hair is at a different angle to the follicle below the skin, correct alignment can be difficult and keeping the tool exactly parallel with the follicles can be a challenge. Individual scars produced using the FUE method are numerous but are extremely small. The open wounds can weep and crust for some days after hair transplantation, but healing is generally very good. The procedure is particularly useful for those patients with an increased risk of donor scarring, such as non-Caucasians. However, any hair transplantation procedure should be undertaken with caution, if it all, in patients with known healing and scarring problems, for example in people who have a history of Keloid scarring. It should be noted that FUE does produce scarring, despite a common misconception that this is not the case. However, the individual scars are extremely small and so healing is normally very quick. The procedure also causes minimal disruption to those active patients who take part in contact sports, as healing is very fast. Moreover, there is minimal discomfort in the donor area and no post-operative pain in the recipient area.

With FUE, it is possible to use non-scalp hair, such as beard or other body hair, to complement the scalp hair transplantation procedure. Unfortunately, such hair is often a poor match with scalp hair and is therefore only of minimal benefit. Resultant scarring on the donor areas of the body could also present a cosmetic issue. FUE is particularly recommended for patients who have a tight scalp and for which more conventional hair transplant procedures might be difficult. The small incisions also make it easier to extract donor tissue from previously inaccessible areas, such as low on the back of the scalp or very close to the ears or temples.

Scalp psoriasis is a condition which tends to be debilitating at times. This is because it is usually accompanied by itchiness of the scalp and those red painful scaly patches. Aside from the discomfort it brings, it can also be quite embarrassing because the thick plaques can sometimes be situated in a visible location such the neck or even the forehead. Fortunately, there are remedies for scalp psoriasis available.

If you are one of these people who are unfortunately suffering from this condition, you need not lose hope. You will be glad to know that there are a lot of remedies that you can do in order to treat the said condition. One popular remedy is by the use of shampoos which contain salicylic acid.

The salicylic acid content helps to soften the thick scaly plaques in order to make it easier to eradicate. Salicylic can be quite a harmful chemical to put on your hair, so follow application instructions carefully.

If you are a bit hesitant in using salicylic acid, you could also opt to use olive oil to soften the scales. All you have to do is heat the olive oil until it is warm to touch. Massage a generous amount onto your scalp and cover it with a towel. Leave the mixture on your scalp for a couple of minutes. Before rinsing, brush your hair with a soft bristled brush in order to remove the softened flaky scales.

Products containing tar have also been proven to be an effective treatment for psoriasis. Tar can be mixed in shampoo or even soap, so you can choose whichever you want to use. The problem with tar is that it tends to have an extremely unpleasant odor and it also stains. Usually they are massaged onto the scalp and it is left on the scalp for a couple of minutes before you can rinse it off.

Phototherapy is also one therapy that is beginning to be a popular choice especially among people who are suffering from severe cases of scalp psoriasis. This method makes use of high intensity amounts of UV light; the UV light is administered via a UV comb. In mild cases of this condition, you do not need to make use a UV light therapy. As a matter of fact, the UV rays of the sun is already enough to help treat it.

As you can see, there are a lot of treatment options when it comes to curing scalp psoriasis. Whichever remedy you choose to apply, be sure to take some action before the condition complicates.

Ringworm Scalp Treatment - How to Stop and Prevent Ringworm Infection

-----------------ใส่ตรงนี้คับ----------------

Image : http://www.flickr.com

What is a Scalp Ringworm

A scalp ringworm is actually a fungal infection of the scalp. It came to be know as such since worms traveled in laps around a short circle. The scalp ringworm is a very common infection. It causes itchy bald-looking patches on the head which can be very uncomfortable. An estimated 3 to 8 percent of the United States population is infected with scalp ringworm. The disease, also known as "tinea capitis", tends to be more common in children of ages 4 -14 due to their weakened immune system.

Causes of Scalp Ringworm

Generally, scalp ringworm is transmitted from person to person. It can be very contagious if the infected person has an open wound in the infected area. It can also be transmitted from animals. People that have a lot of contact with animals should check themselves regularly.

Ringworm Scalp Treatment

There are many over-the-counter ringworm scalp treatments that you can get at your local pharmacy. Most of these ringworm scalp treatments take about 4 weeks to completely eliminate the infection. Remedies include ointments or orally taken capsules for which you may need a prescription. Most of these ointments just require you to wash the infected part, let it dry and apply the cream.

Prevention

To prevent from having to resort to ringworm scalp treatments one must:

o Not share hats, hair brushes, or anything that makes contact with your head
o Have good hair hygiene, shampoo your hair at least once a day.

If prevention has failed, the only solution is to treat the disease with a ringworm scalp treatment.
