African Americans can have murmurs scalp problems that can be hard to solve. These problems can range from scalp itch to thinning hair. There are many cures for itchy scalp but not all of them are geared toward African American hair, which is different than other types of hair. Lets face it finding a product that works well on African American hair and that is cost effective is hard to do.
Scalp Itch is caused by oil build up on the scalp, since African-American hair is oily it is very easy for this to happen if not regulated. The best way to is to find a shampoo with zinc pca in it, this will help cleanse the hair. The only thing you need to keep in mind after using it is that you need to use a conditioning treatment with it at least once a week so that the hair doesn't dry out.
Another thing that can cause itchy scalp is a fungal infection on the scalp. Fungus survives off of oil. So if you have really oily hair it is prime real estate for fungus. The way you can tell if you have a fungal infection is that you will see large white flaky bumps on your scalp that itch and are sore. The easiest way to treat this is to find a shampoo with emu oil in it. Emu oil is a natural anti fungal and well help kill the infection.
Hair Breakage and Brittle Hair
One of the most common problems African Americans suffer from is hair breakage or weak hair. This is an easy fix, simply find a hair vitamin for African-American hair. The vitamin basically feeds the hair the vitamins and minerals it needs to be healthy and become stronger. Once this happens the hair will grow faster and break less, for more healthy vibrant hair.
Oil Conditioning Treatment
Finally I always recommend and oil conditioning treatment. Argan oil is at the top of my list. Simply apply after you get out of the shower wrap your head in a towel and get ready as your normally would. When you get ready to fix your hair it will be much softer and smoother. The oil also cuts drying time in half which is fantastic.
